Mr. Secretary General

The Japan P.E.N.Club,an association of Japanese writers,is deeply preoccupied by the many casualties among the civilian population of former Yugoslavia which have occured as a result of the bombing by the NATO aircrafts.

While deploring this situation, we have addressed the attached letter to Mr.Slobodan Milocevic,the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and earnestly hope that this bombing will be brought to an end and that peace will return soon to this region of the world.
